recreation, and leadership organizations in the city. The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg’s North Y Youth Centre offers opportunities for youth to become members of something special. When kids participate in a YMCA-YWCA experience they have the opportunity to develop self-confidence, make healthy choices, feel connected, and learn the skills necessary to become the leaders of today and tomorrow. Ma Mawi is a community-mandated, non-profit Aboriginal controlled and directed organization that offers a diverse array of culturally relevant preventative and supportive services and programs for Aboriginal families. Ma Mawi works to empower community members to practice selfcare through preventive and supportive services for children and families. Ma Mawi’s philosophy is rooted in the belief
that the entire community has responsibility for the healthy development of future generations. Ma Mawi has been designated by the partners to be the Keeper of the Spirit of the facility, and to
ensure that community respect, values and expectations can be met through the facility and the partnership.
