A number of organizations work together for community wellness at Win Gardner Place, including: Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg, SPLASH Child Enrichment Centre and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.

The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg is one of the longest standing and most respected wellness, leisure,
recreation, and leadership organizations in the city. The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg’s North Y Youth Centre offers opportunities for youth to become members of something special. When kids participate in a YMCA-YWCA experience they have the opportunity to develop self-confidence, make healthy choices, feel connected, and learn the skills necessary to become the leaders of today and tomorrow. They also find out what it takes to build strong families and community.

From the remains of what was once a recreational landmark within Winnipeg’s North End, the North End Wellness Centre
– known today as “Win Gardner Place” has risen anew to showcase the pride, strength, capacity and redevelopment of the North End community.
With a number of stakeholders working together guided by the community, the Centre represents a shared vision of community wellness. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of such organizations as, Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg, North End Community Renewal Corporation, SPLASH
Child Enrichment Centre, and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Win Gardner Place serves as a beacon of hope, inspiration and opportunity for North End residents.

Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre (Ma Mawi)

 Ma Mawi is a community-mandated, non-profit Aboriginal controlled and directed organization that offers a diverse array of culturally relevant preventative and supportive services and programs for Aboriginal families. Ma Mawi works to empower community members to practice selfcare through preventive and supportive services for children and families. Ma Mawi’s philosophy is rooted in the belief
that the entire community has responsibility for the healthy development of future generations. Ma Mawi has been designated by the partners to be the Keeper of the Spirit of the facility, and to
ensure that community respect, values and expectations can be met through the facility and the partnership.

SPLASH is a vibrant and innovative early-learning child care centre, trusted and supported by the local community. SPLASH embraces the spirit of the North End and its residents. SPLASH’s mission and values are Collaboration, Acceptance, Respect, Excellence, and Safety which are reflected in their  practice.
